Recent Trip to Lewisporte

Lewisporte this past week was busy, with the Astron in port loading for northern Labrador ports. The Travestern was in loading for Arctic ports, after she took cargo off a bigger tanker anchored off Loon Bay. After the Travestern departed, the Alsterstern arrived to load jet fuel for Arctic ports. The next arrival was the Silver Point, a larger tanker measuring 183 meters and 29,717 gross tons, the ship is fairly new being built in 2011, and of course a permanent fixture these days in Lewisporte the Sir Robert Bond.

From the middle of June till the end saw lots of tanker traffic in Lewisporte. Photos were taken by my dad, showing some of the activity.
