Sunday Report...Busy Day

The former icebreaker Sir Humphrey Gilbert, now the Polar Prince secured alongside the Blain M. The ship was built in 1959, and had a long career in the Canadian Coast Guard, she is now owned by GX Technology in Houston, Texas

The German Fishery Patrol vessel Meerkatze arrived in today. The ship was built in 2009 and is owned by the German Government and measures 71 meters and 1,981 tons.

The HMCS Goose Bay and HMCS Moncton arrived in St.John's for a weekend visit.

More Research vessels - Updated

This past week brought three research vessels in. the first was the Western Trident, built in 1999, is 92.5 meters long, 8,369 tons, flies the Panama flag and is owned by Westerngeco, London, UK.

The other was the Ramform Valiant, built in 1998, measures 86.2 meters, 9,456 gross tons, flies the Bahamas flay. The ship is owned by Bahamas Capital Bank, and is operated by Wilhelmsen Ship Management.

The third was the Fugro Searcher, built in 2010, measure 65.68 meters, 1929 gross, flies the Panama flag. The ship is owned by Fugro Leidschendam, Netherlands. (photo to follow)

Marina, First Cruise Ship arrival

The cruise ship Marina arrived in St. John's today, the first one. The first three canceled. The Marina is owned by Oceania Cruises, launched in 2010, is 782 feet long and can carry 1,252 passengers and 780 crew.

Confederation arrives for refit

The ferry Confederation arrived in St. John's May 22, 2015 but did not come alongside until early this morning May 23, 2015 with the help of the Taskall. The Confederation was built in 1993 in Pictou, Nova Scotia, measures 114.2 meters and can carry 600 passengers. It operates from Woods Island, PEI to Caribou, nova Scotia.

Disney Magic trip to St. John's Cancelled

The third cruise ship to visit St. John's so far this year has cancelled its trip. This time its the Disney Magic, which is very unfortunate as I'm sure a lot of people would of loved to see this ship including myself.

Second cruise cancells visit

The cruise ship Silver Whisper cancelled its visit for this coming Friday due to marine conditions, this is the second ship to cancel, the first was the Amadea.
