Sir Robert Bond Departs Lewisporte

The Sir Robert Bond departed Lewisporte Jan 30, 2013 bound for Corner Brook. The Bond will take up the run from Corner Brook to Blanc Sablon on Friday Feb 1, 2013, departing Corner Brook 0700hrs Feb 1, 2013 and arriving Blanc Sablon 1900hrs. The Apollo the regular ferry will finish up tomorrow and head for St. John's for refit.

Charlene Hunt back in St. John's

The Charlene Hunt the vessel that towed the Lyubov Orlova out of St. john's last week is back in St. John's according to CBC Newfoundland. The tug was ordered back to St. John's by Transport Canada, due to concerns of safety of the vessel and crew. The Lyubov Orlova continues to drift, there is no fuel leaking, snd no danger to other ships

Fishing Vessel Eldborg in port

The Estonian fishing vessel Eldborg shown in St. John's Jan 20, 2013, built in 1974, she measures 71 meter's, 1,403 GT.

CCGS Cape Roger

The Cape Roger shown arriving St. John's Jan 20, 2013. The vessel is a search & Rescue, fisheries patrol built in 1977, modernized in 1996 and in 2010 underwent a 6 million refit in St. Catherines, Ontario. The ship in 205 feet long, and is 4,395 HP.

Lyubov Orlova Departs

The vessel Lyubov Orlova has finally departed St. John's today towed by the tug Charlene Hunt. After being in St. John's for more then two years she is on her way to be scrapped. I was unable to be there, but here is a photo taken from the CBC camera on the rooms.

Alongside

The tug Charlene Hunt is shown alongside the Lyubov Orlova Jan 20, 2013 getting ready to tow the Orlova out of the harbor. The tug has been here in St. John's since Dec 9, 2012 and now according to Mac's tug fax has been reflagged from the United States
to Bolivia. The little tug will tow the Orlova to the Dominican Republic for scrap.

Hazel Mcisaac arrives for refit

One of Newfoundland's newest ferries, the Hazel Mcisaac arrived in St. John's early this morning and tied up at the dockyard dock. The vessel was built in Marystown,Newfoundland at a cost of $27.5 million. The ship operates on the Little Bay Islands - Long Island run, she is 42 meters long, 930 GT, she can carry 80 passengers, 16 cars, or one tractot trailer and 11 cars, she is 850HP and has a 200 HP bow thruster

Sir Robert Bond Departs St. John's

After almost 8 months in St. John's, two dry-dockings, steel replacement, installing a new stern thruster engine the Sir Robert Bond departed St. John's today bound for Lewisporte. The first of Feb she will head to pick up the Blanc Sablon to Corner Brook run while the Apollo is gone for refit.

Acadian in port

The tanker Acadian was in St. John's Jan 19, 2013 offloading petroleum products. The vessel was built in 2005 in South Korea and is 183 meter's long, she is owned by Vroon Shipping and chartered to Irving.

Kaliutik Visits

The little tug kaliutik arrived In St. John's Jan 14, 2013 towing a barge. The vessel built in 1998 is almost 20 meter's long and 82 GT, and HP of 550. The tug is registered in Nanticoke, Ontario and is owned by the Labrador Inuit Development Corporation of Happy Valley Goose Bay.

Maersk Beater bsck in port

The supply vessel Maersk Beater was back in St. John's Jan 14, 2013. The ship will be used to support drilling operations off Newfoundland.

Atlantic Kestrel christened

Atlantic Towing's newest supply vessel was christened in St. John's according to CBC Newfoundland on Thursday Jan 17, 2013 by Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Kathy Dunderdale. The new vessel is due to leave St. John's Jan 18, 2013 on a exploration trip for statoil

The Woodward Group tanker Tuvaq was in St. John's Jan 14, 2013 at the Irving dock unloading for Irving.

The New Atlantic Kestrel

Atlantic towings new anchor handling tug / supply vessels the Atlantic Kestrel arrived St. John's Jan 14, 2013. The ship is 85 meter's long, gro tonnage of 6,186 and has a horse power of 16,300. The ship built as the Jaya Supreme in Singapore is the largest in the fleet and will be based in St. John's.
